I had a small block and tackle in the garage for years, and I was going to use for pulling my trike up onto the trailer when I do my Shetland trip - of course now I finally want to use it, I can't find it anywhere.

So I wnt hunting on Ebay and found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rope-block-and-tackle-pulley-cargo-hoist-180kg-lifting-lift-/280853921508?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item416432bee4 - which is very similar.

Just want a bit of know-how from the technical types - my trike weighs 340kg, and this gear is rated for lifting 180kg.  But I don't want to lift the trike, just pull it up a ramp - do you reckon this will do the job?

it should do the job cos your not lifting a dead weight just pulling a weight on wheels just the same principal as pushing a car when you wouldn't have the strength to lift something of the same weight

you will need to check there is enough length in the rope, distance from front of trailer fixing to trike attachment point (length x) when at bottom of the ramp. at 6:1 that will be a lot of rope. you will need a lenght of 7 * x

hope that helps

Good suggestion Huntyer - not sure how much effort required for that?  And of course there would have to be somewhere suitable on the (borrowed) trailer to mount it........

It would need a lot less effort than what you are looking at,
They are pretty easy to opperate,as for mounting perhaps you could make something to clamp to the trailer.
