Brake master cylinder

I have a girling 5/8" master cylinder with a remote reservoir to be fitted to my trike, my question is, is it alright to mount it on its side as this would give me more ground clearance and look better. I can see no reason why it wouldn't work like that but would appreciate other opinions rather than just mount it and find out it doesn't work.
