Hiya, ByzMax is the chappie to ask cos he's already put several trikes through the test. I think it's 85 quid & 15 for a re-test, but don't quote me on that.

And when you register you have to have insurance as they give 6 or 12 months Tax. You can't register and SORN it.

Would you be able to ride it to a MSVA test or do you have to trailer it to the test? A bit like riding to an MOT if it is pre booked? Thanks

Think you have to trailer it as it is not registered. At least with an Mot you have registration etc but check with DVLA first.

I don't think that's right Dynatrike - the 'one vehicle only' thing is for getting free road tax. But I'll check on that.

Got this answer from someone on the NABD forum.... The only thing you get if you are disabled is free tax, and to get that you need the DLA404 form, this stands for Disability Living Allowance 404, and you get it from DLA, not from DVLA or Motability. So you need to get Disability Living Allowance (or one of the other disability benefits). Then you can get free tax for 1 vehicle. Anyone can register a vehicle, and if you can prove that you are disabled and the vehicle is adapted for you, then you do not have to get it MSVA'd, just MOT'd. If it's just to get it registered without the MSVA, then you need to prove that the vehicle is: "Vehicles adapted or constructed to enable use by a disabled person (i.e. a person who has a disability as defined in section 1 of the Disability Discrimination Act), whether as a driver or passenger. " (See here for full rules: http://www.dvtani.gov.uk/vehicletesting/msvafaqs.asp ) And Part 1 of the DDA says: Subject to the provisions of Schedule 1, a person has a disability for the purposes of this Act if he has a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities (see here for the full DDA: http://www.opsi.gov.uk/acts/acts1995/95050--a.htm#1 ) So as long as you can prove that, you do not need to get it MSVA's. This could be a letter from a specialist, or Doctor etc. You need to be on a disability benefit to get free tax, but you just need to be disabled to get around the MSVA.
