No, you don't want to visit Basingstoke unless you really, really have to, trust me.

Always be wary of a statement that ends with Manky saying 'Trust me'...

Hello everybody, havn't been here for a while. Havn't been to Brighton hill much lately, either.

This site's changed a bit. I see the hand of the Yoda here.

I'll try to look in a bit more.
(Here I mean, not Basingstoke.)

Hi Shep, you'd never find your way into Basingstoke anyway Grin

I moved here cos they call it Doughnut City. Then I found out they were referring to the number of roundabouts here.  Angry

Just when I think I'm getting the hang of Basingstoke, Steph takes me another way, and I end up getting there without knowing where I've been. Huh

And why is the "Welcome to Basingstoke" sign about half way between Reading and Basingstoke?

It actually means "You're welcome to Basingstoke" mate. Nobody wants it. I think it's like Brigadoon. A mythical town that only appears once every hundred years. I'm forever being asked for directions on my Postal round. After the 3rd or 4th roundabout you can see their eyes start to glaze over. It's O.K once you get used to it, but a bugger if you're only visiting.

I think I'm looking forward to visiting Basingstoke again, when, if I do Undecided As I recall to get to the Anchor from the Newbury road there were 4 roundabouts and you took 2nd 1st 2nd 3rd exits and you were in spitting distance of the pub (had a good spit in them days  Smiley

There are people wandering around that town centre who've given up all hope of finding their way home. Had to survive by drinking rain water & eating their own socks -certainly tastier than some of the fast food places here.
The best thing to come out of Basingstoke is the M3. And Tinita Tickerum. And Liz Hurley. And Maggie Philbin. And fergie. well, maybe not Fergie.

Oi, don't knock Fergie, she was alright before she started associating with the royals!  What's she got to do with Basingstoke anyway?

She's a local. Her family live in a little village called Dummer on the outskirts of this wonderful town.
And Manky lusts after her  Smiley

Actually she IS an attractive lady -isn't she? I once knocked her Dad, Major Ronald Ferguson, keeper of the Royal polo ponies, to the ground. Was delivering the mail in the town centre, (Flap's delivery now). Stepped out of a shop doorway just as he was passing. Sent him sprawling on the pavement. Lucky I didn't end up in the tower.
