Looks like they have widened the frame a bit. The piggy sump is eight inches across and I would leave at least a half inch gap each side for vibration, unless it was solidly mounted.

I like that! Somewhere locally is a Ural combo with a Reliant lump in it.

I have collected loads of pics of Ural/Reliant bikes. One of them was an outfit fitted with a huge sidecar, which was on several sites. It then turned up on ebay and was sold to America. Wonder what they thought of it there?

its a long time ago but as i remember a mate of mine made the liners out of high grade cast iron and bored the ally block to take them pistons were austin allegro with the crown skimmend down and bushed to take smaller gudgion pin cyl head was skimmend head gasket was home made out of 3 layers of shimstock sandwiched with wellseal as i said before it went well but it's biggest drawback was it used to snap the crank just behind the flywheel thruogh the main bearing journal i changed about 4 cranks before it ended up at the back of the garage can't remember what became of it

To drag things full circle, no-one's mentioned that Reliant did actually produce a pick-up in the shape of the splendid Reliant Fox, as well as a flat bed truck - the Reliant Ant and a camper conversion for the Fox.
I really wish I didn't know that...

No need to feel like that, I didn't know Reliant built anything other than Rialtos, Robins and was it Scimitars? so, you've taught somebody something they didn't know today Have your first applaud on me.
