DESPERADO . Is a creature conceived out of of desperation and a need to do some thing interesting with Unmarketable components from several technically brand new never started let alone assembled Marlin kit cars i purchased largely for body panels and mechanical spares for our two LWB Trialers. This was no planned build and will inevitably slow work down on my Austin Devon that is currently my main project. But on a pluss note its an easy assemble and if i use the spitfire 1300 engine or a 2 litre six little fabrication to the chassis will be needed, and the bodywork can take the bulk of the time and is the part of this build i am looking forward to the most.
DESPERADO will be based around a Brand new 1980
shiney black T (stands for Triumph based )Model Marlin roadster chassis. And home brewed all alloy Bodywork with marine ply or alloy checker plate floor pans.
The idea is to build an early 1930s style light car with four seats but the rears incorporated in to the rear body in the form of a dicky seat. Not sure about the dicky seat i think it may just make VOSA have a Dicky Fit when they saw it, so i may have to compromise there.
I decided to name this car Desperado, as its been totally desperate trying to give!!! Sorry Sell this car as an item comprising of a pile of components even though the inventory of these components is mostly Brand new still packaged mechanical and electrical parts and reconditioned major parts axle gearbox engines with bills and even photos to prove work done.
After Offering this car for sale for the last year with everything to complete it including engine for 300 quid i drooped the price yesterday to 200 pound complete. Offered it to a current Marlin Owner as a winter build up. He turned up here today and made me an offer of 120 pounds, this i politely declined.
This pile of parts is worthless its a sad fact but true its the IVA No one wants the hassle of it.
So we came up with a plan, keep all the marlin panels and fibre glass that will fit the other two Marlins as spares, and use all the dedicated Triumph parts and chassis to build a early 1930s style special i can never afford to buy one and i have always wanted one. This is a way to use up near worthless left over components and build some thing interesting.
The pile of bits and pieces
