No this is not a safety thing ( well some of it might be). Been using an angle grinder a lot the last few days and here are a few observations.

If cutting or grinding for a long time give the grinder time to cool down every so often. They can and do catch fire. Sad
Wear overalls. Do not think it's just a little job. Those new jeans will join the pile of work jeans at the bottom of the wardrobe.  Angry
When outside do not let the sparks/dust fly all over the white upvc window frames. Next day, there will be little rust spots that will never come out. EVER! Tongue
Also when outside, check that there is no washing on the line. For some reason, your spouse may not appreciate having to redo it all. Roll Eyes
Do not wear your wife's Marigold gloves. Not only will she be unhappy and it's a bad fashion statement, but when you pick up that very hot bit of metal, they melt and in effect, glue aforesaid very hot piece of metal to your fingers. Angry

Stay safe (work when the wife's not around) and happy grinding Smiley

Or near glass. I've got to replace the rear window & speedo glass of my truck cos it's pitted with grinding sparks.

And don't grind or cut when you have a grumpy lazy b@~tard living next door who hasn't done a days work in years. Rant over  Smiley

At 16 my first car was a knackered mk1 fiesta and after 2 days chopping out rusty wings, inner wings and front panel I found I had a rusty windscreen owing to grinder sparks

The whole set are now on the windowsill at the back, and relegated to "outside only" - wo-betide me if I take any other
