alternator terminals

i think  t-bone posted in a reply somewhere  which type alternator had which sort of terminal and what each terminal did,

can anyone shed any light on wherabouts he posted it  i,v lost it

yesterday i sat looking at an alternator and for the life of me i couldnt remember what term did what ,,must be an age thing,,    memory is a bit clearer now ,,
