Title: rewiring motorcycle clocks Post by: merv on February 24, 2018, 11:52:41 PM I need help.
I'm changing the clocks on the st1100 to a completely different set.The st1100 ones have a left and a right turn signal idiot lights built into the cluster. The new set has only one turn signal idiot light built in. Would any one know how i can wire the new set up so when i use the left indicator the idiot light would flash and when i use the right indicator the idiot light would flash. I can get it to flash by using one or the other st1100 one fitted to it but when i try to connect the two to operate the idiot light all the indicators flash like hazards. Can any one help. Title: Re: rewiring motorcycle clocks Post by: minimutly on February 25, 2018, 08:07:26 PM While an indicator lamp between the indicator feeds will work, the right way to do it, and one that will work with leds, is to use a pair of diodes, the anodes to the lamps, with the cathodes connected together feeding the indicator. This stops the backfeed between one side and the other.

I sort of know what diodes are but what on earth are anodes and cathodes ??? Title: Re: rewiring motorcycle clocks Post by: minimutly on February 26, 2018, 06:23:49 PM The cathode is the end with a stripe around it. No diagram needed, current only flows towards the stripe
