I've always used bike sure i n the past but I've just had a quote of over £850 for a cg125 engined special for my 17 year old son
Does anyone know of another insurance company that would consider this type of machine

Just insured with performance direct on the 1100.

Pain in the ass to use, but £200 cheaper than Bennett's etc who just humped me off.

If you talk to them make sure you phone. Can get a quote online but need to do the policy over the phone.

Did I mention they're a pain, but cheap

Properly struggling now go compare bring up bikesure performance direct (who are both Adrian flux insurance) and Carole Nash
I'll try the latter tomorrow
My boy helped build the bike and now feel's squeezed out of riding something he's built

Unfortunately, Insurance companies calculate their premiums on "previous", in terms of losses, soooo, that sort of tells you why the premiums for youngsters remains so high. Conversly, "grey beards" like me can get FC insurance on 600cc+ 'bikes for as little as £75/annum.Fair or otherwise, it is what it is really, Morrag

Obviously as it's his bike he must go down as the main rider, but try getting a quote with yourself as a 'named rider' - some people have found that lowers kids' quotes!

No,  what I said was make YOURSELF a named rider!  Don't know why it helps but some folks have found it does.

On the outside chance you might have mised something, yesterday I tried a sample quote myself, as a 17 year old! yeah right Grin, with a 125cc Honda, And failed to get a single quote!! Huh, so that's how tough it is to get started in motorcycling today, shame....Morrag

I might give that a go bg costs nothing to ask
As for a smaller engine the bikes all but done and I thought the mighty CG motor would have been considered quite sensible
