The Watford Rods Car Show has moved to Sunday 5 May and the new location is the Beaconsfield (SYCOB) Football Club in Beaconsfield, Bucks, HP9 2SE, J2 off the M40.

Watford Rods have teamed up with the Bucks Bash to provide a show for Hotrods, American cars, classic cars, trikes, choppers & Harleys.

Admission is £5 for adults & £1 for kids or for those exhibiting their cars it’s free for the driver and just £1 per passenger.

There is live music during the day and if you fancy taking in the evening entertainment £9 gets you admission to a rock & roll night featuring Cliff & The Cavaliers.

Its a great venue, live music, autojumble, stalls, stuff to keep the kids entertained, the football field has excellant drainage if it rains, so no stuck cars, big bar with garden veranda, the venue has everything going for it.

The show opened at 10.30. I arrived at 11 & they were already turning people away from the showfield cos it was full & parking them in the public carpark instead.
I've been to the Watford Rods show several times before, but never seen as big a turn out as this. The Watford crew teamed up with the Beaconsfield Show this year for a combined hotrod & classic event. Throw in some warm Spring weather & things soon got very busy. As I queued to get in, in my daily driver, (damn truck still refuses to run properly), I saw several disgruntled American classic owners turning around & leaving. I've since read on a couple of forums that they were furious at being asked to park in the public parking field, rather than the showfield, "because it was full of MGs, Minis etc". It was never billed as a hotrod only event though. It was a classic/custom show. The British classics had as much right to be there as the Yanks.
Anyway, the weather was hot, the music was good, the conversation was interesting & the cars were gorgeous. As the day went on, cars began to drift away from the showfield, as they always do, but were replaced by late comers as well as some of the earlier ones who'd been directed to the visitors parking field. Personally I thought the visitors field was the cooler place to be anyway. Marshalling events like this is a thankless task & there'll always be punters who think they know better, but from what I saw as I wandered about, the volunteers in the dayglo jackets were doing a pretty good job, keeping things moving & slotting in cars as & when spaces became available. It was announced during the afternoon that the organisers hadn't expected such a big turn out & will be switching fields next year as the visitors one can hold 1500 vehicles.
Still haven't fixed the events photo gallery pages yet, so here's several hundred snaps for you.
