did u manage to get all your electrics in that fake oil tank? yep and a fuse box, a battery, a battery tray and a skateboard wheel chain tensioner runner thing. It's not running electric start so it's only 3 wires or so.

Failed!
Fork seals burst - in hand. head bearings loose. Dip beam not working.
Buttt only running on 1 cylinder. had to ride it home with the choke on! First 40 / 50 miles done on it though.
Vibrating through the bars and pegs massively so now my knuckles hurt (pleasant).
Hopefully should be nicer when it's running right, but if not, give me my fighter back!

If you go off it, you can always donate it to me buddy, as it has to be my favourite bike I've seen in a long time!!!!!!!

I'll tell you what, let me mot it first and get it running right.
Thennnnnnn I'll probably say noooooo! Lol.
That front end will drop straight into a zephyr 550 frame, which will take a gixxer 750 oil boiler, which'll take a zxr 400 rear end with some mods, and a zedbutt seat......

That's what I was planning before this one lol. I had a zephyr 4 and had the front end sorted to go in that and had a back end sorted, but the engine dropped it's valves so shifted it fast. It was really nice and in old wakasakie z900 colours - dark green and yellows

it's great. Went on a weekend away with hewlett packard and came back to find our mate Dave and my dad with the XS's guts out. They'd sorted the timing - it was 10 degrees out so we have both cylinders. My god she sounds fierce! Throttle is quick responsive and smooth now. This has also cured the leaky carb as it's using the fuel. head bearing issue sorted. Dip beam fixed (it'd rattled the wires off the switch). only issue is i think the reg rec is working too well and over charging the battery. Blipping the throttle took it to 15.5 volts - daves advised it should be about 14. obviously need to go away on a bender more often!

I have a vague recollection that my old XS650 pushed out 15v. Mine was an import one and they have day time riding lights so that might be why.

Cheers for that. Definately confused. I think the battery is pretty fubared from where it was sat for so long, so 1st step is maybe a new one.
The banshee conversion looks way interesting.
Roll on payday!!!!! Arghhh it's just sat there waiting for mot. Might cave and opt for an electric start to clean up the engine in the future. It'll also help to save my already knackered ankle, which I snapped years ago - anytime I get a kickback it makes it hard to walk on for about a week.
