Well ,finally got me cbr400 running today!..........only taken 10 years!!!!

The time lag of sitting idle has caused one casualty, quite a major one. Bloody fuel tap has a major leak,i think the seals dried out & when tap was turned on it probly broke up big time!

Now the problem is that getting a replacement could be a bit of a pain seeing as its an '87 jap import model, so might have a bash at rippin' it apart & findin out just whats gone wrong with the hope that i may be able to cobble something up to repair it.
Or hope that i can find a more readily available tap that might fit.

Still, serves me right for takin' so long!

Any how, if i can keep up the enthusiasm , it might be back on the road this year!!!!yippeeee

its only time busboy,   got a g5 cb250 that did the same, spent hours getting solid black reminant of petrol out and put oil on to soften the seals,  then mopped  up all the leaked petrol when i refilled the tank, cursed a lot, then rang david silver honda spares, had a brew then started on something else...
    got any photos?

Yep total pain in the rectum!
Did a bit of searching last night & ended up @david silver, and yes the tap is still available but at a cost of about £50.FOR A FUEL TAP?Huh?!!!!! Now maybe i'm gettin tighter in me old age but i had to pick meself off the floor!!!
Still may be some hope as early cbr600 was the same part.........

Try to sort out some pics today.

Have a look at NRP Carbs website - they do repair kits for fuel taps, had one for my GT.

http://www.nrp-carbs.co.uk/honda_fuel_tap_repair_kit.htm

Worth a phone call if they don't list yours as they'll know what fits!
