Picked up the wheels today and will keep a photo diary of how it goes! If it works and they look good, i will post pics, if not, forget I ever mentioned the whole silly idea Grin
Might take a while as work on the trike has to take precedence.

banding is illegal in Australia. you can cut 2 rims asymmetrically and weld the bigger bits together.
law is only for 1 weld around the rim
brought on by heaps of failures from dodgy backyard jobs done in the '70's

Newbie's planning to rivet the wheel centres to a different set of rims. Early Moggy Minors had seperate centres, rivetted to the rims. He's planning Vauxhall or Ford Transit van.

Not sure but were the centres not riveted then spot welded either side and in between  the three  rivets Undecided I think if you grind off the paint / rust you will see the spot welds .

Nope just riveted on. Have taken out one centre (and a chunk of finger), but intend to rivet and weld into the new rim

Surprised at that i would have had money on them being spot welded too. modern cars just spot weld them. i like the idea of the rivets as well, be a sound job.
