I haven't posted many event photos lately, but I'm still getting out & about.
Thought I'd try something different at the weekend, so I caught the train up to London, (horrible journey -replacement bus service), & spent the day at Comic Con at the Excel Centre at Victoria Docks.
I'm a bit of an armchair geek -love sci-fi, "graphic novels" & the whole culture of imaginary characters & different worlds, but not so heavily into it that I recognise them all, especially some of the more obscure Japanese Manga & Anime characters. I'm just comic curious
Comic Con's a huge indoor show where you can buy ...comic books, surprisingly, collectables, memorabilia, props, materials to make costumes -all that kinda stuff. More importantly for a lot of people though, it's a chance for the serious -& not so serious, "Cosplayers", (not some sort of fetish, but those who love designing & making their own costumes), to show them off.
I love the imagination & creativity of it all. Some of them were truly amazing. I'm reaching the point where I don't want to build any more vehicles -yeah, I've already reached it -just want to use the ones I've got, so could enjoy channelling my creative urges into something like this instead. I quite like the Steam punk genre -Victorian inventor/adventurers inspired by the likes of Jules Verne. That could be fun to make all the props for.
There's another Comic Con in May, so I'll definitely be going back.
