Title: Don't try this at home.
Post by: Manky Monkey on August 20, 2005, 06:23:19 PM
A little workshop tip children.
Don't wear your watch when welding. Spent this afternoon laying under Flap's LandRover, (see "Motors", "Hotrods" -!!), welding repair patches on the chassis, (don't worry I won't tell 'em it failed the MOT mate, & my Triumph passed this morning). Welding patches on patches, upside down, big blob of molten metal dripped on my metal watch strap. Heated strap up...OWW, OWW, OWWWW!!!!!
HOT, HOT, HOT!!
Did he show any concern? Only when I'd safely finished his poxy car. Git.  :P

Ain't Mothers wonderful! They always know best & have your well being at heart.
Had arc eye a couple of times. Very scary -really thought I was going blind. I shouldn't be let loose in a garage unsupervised!
Got to go out for the evening now people, but I'll be back later. Try not to make too much mess while I'm gone.

Oh, did it hurt, you should of said.  ;D
Is that what all the screaming was about, I thought you was just enjoying yourself.
Did your Triumph pass the MOT first time, did it, go on tell the ladies and gentlemen.

Git.
Alright, no it didn't. New front brake pads needed. Bought, fitted, retested & passed within the hour. So there.

Horrid Landy. It is evil & must die.
When we looked closely, the chassis was a patchwork of...patches, some on top of other, older patches. Flap's saving his pennies for a shiny new galvanised chassis next year, (650 quid), so it's only got to make it through one more MOT. The stripdown & rebuild should make an interesting feature for the site.

Feel guilty Mr Flap. Feel very guilty. That's several donuts you owe me at least. And probably a lump of choccie cake too.

Nasty bloke made me spend all day under his motor.
Missed the Newbury bike show, got me head stuck when me welding helmet got wedged under the diff housing, set fire to me sweat shirt -again, then hurted me arm.
And not a single tasty commestible for my troubles.

"Flap" is his little girls' name for his canvas roofed Landy by the way. I called it lots of other names yesterday. >:(
