Don't wear your watch when welding. Spent this afternoon laying under Flap's LandRover, (see "Motors", "Hotrods" -!!), welding repair patches on the chassis, (don't worry I won't tell 'em it failed the MOT mate, & my Triumph passed this morning). Welding patches on patches, upside down, big blob of molten metal dripped on my metal watch strap. Heated strap up...OWW, OWW, OWWWW!!!!! HOT, HOT, HOT!! Did he show any concern? Only when I'd safely finished his poxy car. Git. :P Title: Re: Don't try this at home. Post by: critch on August 20, 2005, 06:30:26 PM oooooowwwwwww!!!! that looks sore! im not too hot on welding- 1st time i tried i got arc flash ,and had the worst night of my life in agony and tears streaming out of my eyes as me mam (i was 17) told me it couldnt be that painful and refused to find me some painkillers :o

Had arc eye a couple of times. Very scary -really thought I was going blind. I shouldn't be let loose in a garage unsupervised! Got to go out for the evening now people, but I'll be back later. When we looked closely, the chassis was a patchwork of...patches, some on top of other, older patches. Flap's saving his pennies for a shiny new galvanised chassis next year, (650 quid), so it's only got to make it through one more MOT. Missed the Newbury bike show, got me head stuck when me welding helmet got wedged under the diff housing, set fire to me sweat shirt -again, then hurted me arm.
