Taz & I took delivery of 100 2 foot paving slabs & 3780 kilos of sand on Monday. We're laying the biggest patio in the World behind the cottage, so we've spent the last couple of evenings making the most of the last of the daylight to lug it all up from the bottom of the garden & start spreading it out.
There's a lunar eclipse tomorrow night by the way if anyone's interested. Around midnight.
Oh & we got home tonight to find a major water main has burst right outside our door. The road surface is completely buggered where the water's pushed up from underneath. So now we've got no water & floodlights & generators going all night. Minus 6 forcast tonight so it'll be like an ice rink out there when I leave for work tomorrow morning.  Sad

We've got water back for now but it's gonna take ages to sort out the road and there would be no point in putting down salt as the water would just freeze right over it. Good job Manky can go out through the estate and exit through another gate to cut through town to avoid it in the morning.

not as engineeringly impressive as steve's project but ive been bulding a new battery box in brushed stainless steel . first attempt came out not to bad even though i did all the bending by hammer and box.

Nice clean folds for a hammer job. Smiley
How's it fixed to the frame then? Through the base?

yep theres a plate that will be welded to the frame and the box will be bolted down onto it but i had to make it so the top and side came off to allow easy access and my frame has a single seat post so i had to make the top in two parts. im going to cut some thick alloy plate to hide the stright end of the stainless on the cluth casing as it looks stupid , the black thing is the old box

You mean profile a piece of ally to fill the gap between box & round clutch casing? That'd look good.

yep thats the one , my original plan was to make the box in mils steel and the attach and old clutch casing so  it would look like there was no box just a big engine , but maybe that will do for next project .
