Just a quick one my boy is 14 and I've just bought him a 50cc race rep thingy to get ready for his 16Th only the fuel tank has to be removed to take the battery out. Now there is plenty of room underneath the pillion seat but the battery will be sat at about 45 degrees to the road will this be OK or should the base of the battery run parallel to the road.Probably a daft question but it will make later maintenance easier.

If its a conventional lead/acid battery, then it should be mounted parallel to the road,ie. in a vertical position, to ensure the plates remain covered, Morrag

Well I'm not really sure of those Spanners, but would expect the same rule to apply,as the plates still have to remain covered, however a check of the manufacturers web site would probably give the info. required I would guess, Morrag

Sealed vented wet batteries need to be upright. Gell can be safely inverted but 45 degrees continuous is OK.

if its sealed, itl be ok, just a note, most cheap sealed batteries arnt gel, they are wet, sealed,,,, acids there ,but its soaked up inside a type of felt stuff, very common,
another thing to note is a sealed needs a different charger than a normal, vented, wet ,,,
