I'm rather partial to fairy cakes too, but I don't shout about it in ruffty tuffty biker circles.

Tazet's off to Cumbria & Scotland for a fortnight tomorrow morning so by Wednesday evening I'll have run out of clean crockery & the fridge will be empty.
By next Wednesday I'll be reduced to eating my own socks to survive.

Was a busy night there tonight. No idea of numbers as people are coming & going all evening but must be 500 bikes? Always good to see familiar faces -Janie & Dave, Chevy Rick, Rainbow, Reg, Ska Man, Simon, Mr & Mrs Giant, Lunatic & his crew. Spoke to several people who've found their way to the site by one means or another, so Hello to any anonymous Altonians that may be reading.  ;)
A couple of nice bobbers there tonight. All built by the same guy I think. This black 'un was being ridden by a lad of just 26. Wish I'd had something that cool at that age. Wish I did now actually.

Not quite sure why this XS had a car alternator fitted -if the original was knackered why not just replace it? but looked good anyway. Tassles & short front ends on hardtails aren't my personal taste, but nice to see something other than sports bikes.
Starting to see more & more girls riding big sports bikes now by the way. Can only be a good thing -can't it?

I always found the Betty Boop cartoons a bit unsettling -something about the weird, bendy way the characters moved, & things like the furniture coming to life & chasing her about. All a bit too nightmarish for my liking. The early Popeye cartoons had a similar look to them.
Or is it just me?

Not to worry.  Catch you next time.  While I think of it, Tuesday 14th August, I'm trying to get down to Poole Quay for the bike night if you can make it, would be great to catch up with you.

The new enfield is up and running, taken it out for a ride this evening, now Dave has fitted the new side stand to it.  I'M FREE!

Title: Re: Alton tonight.
Post by: Manky Monkey on August 03, 2007, 09:45:06 PM
Is that new Enfield as in the younger of the two? Or new as in the most recently purchased?
I'm confoosed.

Doesn't take much does it.   ;D

As in my '06 India model.  Tried to take the bike out for a run a couple of weeks back and the side stand got caught in the centre stand!!??  The welding had come away.  So much for a brand new bike.  It would have to be out of warranty by 5 weeks wouldn't it.  Anyway its all sorted.

What time can we be expecting his "we're not worthy-ship" tomorrow, not that it matters as you know you'll always be made welcome whatever time.  Thinks....must remember to get diet coke in.

Title: Re: Alton tonight.

The welder's already loaded in the van, so as soon as I awake I'll be heading your way -well once I'm washed & dressed anyway. Welding in your stripey flanelette jim jams isn't to be recommended.
Chop the Enfield, then you can bung the centre stand away -or take 'em both off & prop it up on a couple of bricks. :)

Speaking from experience are you? HA HA HA.  11 cans of diet coke are in the fridge as we speak.  I did buy a dozen, but Daves drunk one already.

Were you thinking of coming to Alton on Wednesday Rick?  You can have your royal enfield book back.

I emailed the guy the other day regarding the Ford Model T Hotrod, and got a reply back this morning.  He's blaming it on the postal strikes.  :(

Jacko said he may pay Alton a visit tomorrow as well.  I've checked the met office for tomorrows weather forecast, and Wednesday is supposed to be the sunniest and dryest day of the week.

I checked the seaweed earlier and it said dry after 5 tonight ( no excuses then ) unless you live to far away

Saw you pass by as we were sat in the cafe Mr Giant.
Jacko did indeed show, as did Ska Man, Simon, Flap, Janie, Dave, Rainbow & a million others.
Sadly, a major bike/car crash on the way home. See the thread in General Discussion for details. Thankfully not one of our crew, but someone ain't going to be going home tonight.
Take care out there on the roads please guys.

Jacko had a lot to say about Alton apparently, when I spoke to mum on Friday night.   She sounded bored, bless her!

Told Jacko about Ska-mans trike passing its MOT.  He said it should have done as well, they're some of the best trikes about.  ;D

Yep we'll be there.  Blender already loaded in connie so dave doesn't miss out on his mixed grill.  Then I shall have a quick nap (2 hours quick).  ;D

Tonight is certainly the last of the weekly wednesday meets at Alton, and according to the met office, it should be cloudy/sunny this afternoon.
