Grin Mr Brock's an ex Yorkie -he worked at the Rowntrees factory.
We would've called on Mick, but, A), we didn't know his address, & B), he works shifts so would probably be at work. Also it was a bit of a spur of the moment trip. Mick, ("FLC" on the forum), is building a set of girders for Taz's trike. They're not ready yet so we'll be heading back that way in a week or so.

The Shambles (official name Shambles) is an old street in York, England, with overhanging timber-built shops, now occupied by souvenir shops as opposed to the original butchers. The word shambles comes from shammels, probably from the Anglo-Saxon Fleshammels (literally 'flesh-shelves'), the word for the shelves that butchers used to display their meat.

Saint Margaret Clitherow once lived on this street (she was married to a butcher who owned a shop on it). Five Snickelways lead off the Shambles.

Pay attention at the back , I'm trying to learn you stuff here, I also worked at British Rail carriage works, the Ford garage and The Post Office Club, they all got waspy in the end, seeming to see constant attendance as a condition of employment, slight difference of opinion there. Lovely place though

I've only been there once too - for a singinmg competition when I belonged to a Ladies Barbershop Chorus!  Went on a bus tour of the city in nthe only free time we had, and it poured with rain all the time so we didn't see a lot!  Oh and the Minster was closed to us plebs cos there was some kind of City Council service going on.

Spent a week in Yorkshire last year and we were going to York to see the Transport Museum but got sidetracked by the Air Museum at Elvington so we never got there.
