I'm amazed he was only 79, he looked much older!
I must be almost unique - I've never seen Easy Rider.

Like a lot of those 60s classics, I actually found it incredibly boring, but the music & the riding footage was amazing. I bought the soundtrack LP long before I saw the film, so it was cool to see the images that accompanied the tracks I'd been listening to. The Pusher is still a song that evokes images of long forked, hardtailed choppers out on the open road to me. I hated 2 Lane Black Top too, but loved the car & the thought of living on the road, drifting from town to town, earning money by street racing.

Back in 2009 (I think), Peter Fonda was invited to the Goodwood Festival of Speed to parade an Easy Rider replica up the hill, accompanied by Steppenwolf’s Born to be Wild (part of the 1969 Easy Rider soundtrack) blaring out from a PA ‘bolted’ to the roof of Goodwood House. Quite a sight to see for those who ‘grew up’ with the film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbKSXkvV9FEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVU0XLliJ_kHe also had a part in the comedy film “Wild Hogs” which starred (amongst others) John Travolta and Tim Allen, and included a subtle nod to a part of the Easy Rider film...... see if you can spot it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq2SirtDqnESir Manky’s review of the film Wild Hogs http://www.mankymonkeymotors.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2112.0The other lead in Easy Rider, Billy, was played by Dennis Hopper, who died back in 2010. http://www.mankymonkeymotors.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=7950.0https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-49379130Photo credit unknown, found on the web

Is it just me, or does that bike look all out of proportion?

Yes it's a BAD replica but hey ho?..I actually have a picture from the movie of all 3 of the guys on their chops riding along. As my screen saver..sad I know..but it's been my saviour and guiding light through life..not the movie but the carefree image of riding a chop/ bike along country roads enjoying the sunshine on your face😎🏴👍

Managed to find some pics I took at Goodwood in 2009.
There were two Captain America bikes at the event, one with a front disc, belt drive, indicators, front mudguard and other 'modern' odds & sods that Peter Fonda rode up the hill, and a 'true' replica that was display only.
First pic is the demo-ride bike at the start line, taken the day before the event was open to the public, hence the lack of folk etc

Still on the Thursday (not open to public till Fri) and Peter Fonda, in non-Easy-Rider clothing, takes the 'modern' bike gently up the hill to familiarise himself.
I was walking along the track, which, as it was Thurs, was only being used by service vehicles, ground staff, sweepers etc etc when he slowly rode past.

Photo I took of Peter Fonda riding the 'modern' bike on a parade run, Goodwood 2009. There were some 'concert' size speakers on the roof of Lord March's house blaring out Born to be Wild, whilst the big screens were showing selected clips from the film. Wanted a photo of the big screen in the background as he rode past, but, unfortunately, with a fast shutter speed, the screen appears a bit pixelated. Gotta admit, I thought the spectacle was pretty cool............... (I'll get me coat )
