Brooklands Museum is on the site of the famous Brooklands race circuit, the first purpose built race track in the world, and amongst its static exhibits, certain weekends there are active/live events where cars &/or bikes are exercised, and The Double Twelve is one of the bigger events, and there's even a scheduled BBMF Spitfire fly-past.

From their website:

"Next year's Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival will be on the 17th and 18th June, the weekend closest to the anniversary of the original date of the opening of the Brooklands Race Track - 17th June 1907. Once again, it will be one of the biggest motoring competitions held at Brooklands since 1939 and is being organised in association with the Vintage Sports-Car Club ."

I've heard of the Double 12, but can't for the life of me remember what it means -?

I think you will find Andy it is a 24hr race done in two twelve hour sessions

This is a full weekend of motor sport fun incorporating the Double Twelve Speed Trials, the Double Twelve Driving Tests and the Double Twelve Concours. There are different classes and awards for each event but competitors are encouraged to enter two of the three events on offer and this entitles them to be considered for awards in the overall Double Twelve Awards. Entry fees for a second event are just £15 so why not sign up for a weekend of fun. Both the Driving Tests and Concours have classes for non-VSCC cars and there are many car clubs mounting displays as well as other attractions such as ‘Test Hill Challenge’, Stunt Drive demonstrations and so on. If marshalling is more your cup of tea, then please contact the Competition Department and join us on this major public event. If you simply want to come and watch the fun then there is plenty for spectators to see all weekend. The outline timetable for the weekend is as follows:
