Aye those are the ones I keep looking at, but it's annoying they don't come with any of the mounting stuff like they do in the US
Cash isn't too much of an issue really and this use wise is just gonna be a stripped down full on bare bones hooligan machine. At least that's how it feels stance wise with the running gear.
I think it might have an uprated cam in it as i found a spare one in the box of bits and know tigger was into quick stuff - this was just a spare engine while hers was off with halco being sorted.

Re the "mounting stuff". I'd suggest getting in touch with the Heiden guys and asking them if they can get hold of the kit. There was something a lot of years ago that Mikes XS had on its website, but Heiden's website didn't show and I'm pretty sure I asked them and they sorted it (can't remember what. brain fade and all that.....) I had a pair of 34mm Dellortos on one of my earlier XSs & can confirm they made a huge difference -the thing went like a bloomin' rocket. Drank huge amounts of fuel compared to the standard Mikunis though.

So forgot to say I got a tacho drive blank too the other day. It was cheap and maybe not made the best as the locating hole isn't threaded (or the right size) but it fits in the hole. XS No 3 I thought I'd go up the unit as I haven't been since before xmas due to being ill and lazy. Popped it in the hole and swore as I knew I should have opened the hole up a bit as the grub screw in the case doesn't fit into the blank. And getting it out is going to muller it. I might buy another couple though as they were cheap. Looks much neater now. XS No 3 I also set to fitting up the oil cooler Old filter was well grim, but luckily enough looks clean inside the hole and didn't have to scrape any gaskets off XS No 3 XS No 3 And all fittted up in 2 minutes XS No 3 XS No 3 I like to think this is nicely period incorrect as a motorcycle.

Oddly I don't like the filter mod - spoils the simplicity of the side view, however I can see it's there to perform a function.

So ordered up the carb kit from Heiden in Germany. Came to about £300 and they look / feel like a really. Ice set. They're all set up ready to go which is a bonus, even have the cables already fitted to them! Pulling on the cable to open and shut them they are really snappy and open right up, so should give a bit of a power gain. Not huge amounts though as they are only 32mm, but flat slides. XS No 3 I also got a couple of those sump filters and a throttle housing. XS No 3 I'm thinking of just daytime mot on this one, so may get away with having no controls on the handlebars. We'll see.

More goodies in the post today XS No 3 In a bit of a dilemma really. The other Xs is much more together and if I put these bits on it it could be running quickly as it was on the road. But i really want to get this one running as well and hooligan about on it something chronic! Maybe I'll just have to buy 2 of everything. At least I can sell the old carbs on etc and get a bit back
