custom built vehicles need an engineer to sign off
qualified boffiny auto engineers for safety stuff
that shoddy front suspension Spanners got lumped with would have been caught by the engineers testing

The Ford Flatty is a lovely looking engine and gives a nice period look. What condition is it in and what's the spares situation over there?

Coo. How does vehicle registration work in Oz then Ben? Is there a VIN number with the chassis that you can use to put a vehicle on the road?

For "street rod" region I can fabricate my own chassis and have it checked and passed by the powers that be.
That's a club type rego that in some States can reduce usage
Having an original chassis means I can go for street rod or full region as a modified production vehicle
No numbers on cars this old. They will have to have their identity confirmed

Yup, was about to confirm that , to my best knowledge all Chevys were like that up to around 55. Used to have a '41 half ton with a 3/4 ton shortened chassis ( meant it could be lowered more ). Ran Ford p100 front IFS and P100 solid axle on original 3/4 rear springs. Powered by a 80ps ( tuned to 90) 2.5 Di Ford Transit diesel and 5 speed. Strangely was right hand drive as ex Australian import.
