Standard Reliant car batteries are physically smaller than most other car ones, (somewhere between a bike battery & a normal car one), but I've always used 14amp hour bike batteries. They seem quite happy hooked up to a Reliant alternator & will crank the motor over quite happily. They're fine if you're using the trike on a regular basis, but if you leave it for a couple of weeks, you may have to charge the battery, or use a booster pack to get it running. An "Optimate" style trickle charger would probably solve that.

most battery suppliers can give you an adaptor from the small terminal of an 054 type battery to standard type.
sizes if it helps
type length width hight AH amps 054 196 127 223 36 300 002 175 175 190 40 360 yb14b2 135 90 167 14
hope this helps. 054 and 002 type battries are available with the positive on either the left or the right depending on application

Looked at this before. This may help others
SIZE = internal dimensions
7.62mm 200rnd box = 165mm(H) x 255mm(L) x 85mm(W)
.50 cal 100 crtg box = 175mm(H) x 255mm(L) x 140mm(W)
40mm 32 crtg box = 240mm(H) x 435mm(L) x 140mm(W)
There is also the "fat 50 box" which is much bigger than the std nato 50 cal box about 180 H x 320 L x 220 W external

it it's the standard 50 cal box you have then by old newbie's measurements it has to be the 14 ah battery if you can get the 40 mm one then an 054 would fit
