Here's yet another question.
I'm fitting a set of cannon exhausts onto my trike and obviously they come in two halves, each side have front and rears which push together when fitting.
Surely though they will leak at these joints as there are no clamps supplied, and in any which way the tube is not slit to allow a clamp to compress them together.
Should I use  exhaust tape to seal them over or is there something else peopl use?
Thanks again for any help.

exhaust sealer, is there not springs to hold the two halfs together, link pipes for bikes use springs and my old escort van had springs holding the down pipe to the manifold.

Nope, nothing at all, except 4 nouts, washers and bolts which don't seem to do anything, the rear pipes just slide into the front ones.
Nothing else came with the set.
If I use exhaust sealer will be able to separate them again if I need to?

I dont have cannons on my VW but the J pipes have clamps that make an airtight (?) connection to the exhaust.

shouldnt need clamps or the like, put exhaust paste/sealer round the male/willy part, then slide in to the female/fancy piece the engine holds it all together as it bolts each side Wink

they are made like that because of the need to allow a bit of movement for exspansion  just a smear of exhaust moutning paste is all that is needed ,,

Thanks Spanners, that makes sense.
I'm having to return the set anyway as one of the chromed exhausts is badly dented. Thank goodness they have offered to replace them.

I was told to use Hylomar Black on my black chromed exhaust - for obvious reasons.  Pity I'd already used the white stuff.............
