You're dead right Morrag, it's the money that's ruined it!
When I was a kid we had Christmas stockings with things like a notebook and pen, a torch, an orange etc, and got really excited about them - can you imagine what the kids of today would think of that?

Well Christmas will mean something to me for the second time, now Scarlett's two she's old enough to get a bit excited about it and I think it's great but I don't agree with the mass commercialism that xmas is today.

I'm facing being alone this Christmas for the first time for quite a few years, (in the process of breaking up with Taz), so I've signed up for the annual Christmas meal with some of my workmates. I don't normally socialise with the guys from the depot outside work, but thought Sod it, why not. Hopefully it'll be a laugh. Personally I can't wait till the festive season's out of the way & we can all get back to being grumpy again.

I dont socialise with anyone at work either. Every summer in the hols.we used to have a one off midday BBQ in our garden,(I live on site) for all the staff working there, contractors etc.It was a regular thing. All paid for by me and swmbo. But its become so unfriendly in the last few years, especially of late, that I just dont even want to talk to my so called "workmates" in my department, even when Im at work, let alone out of work time! I hate my job. You never know Andy, you may 'pull' on your works outing mate!

When I was working I thought it was bloody ridiculous that everyone in the office sent cards to everyone else - so I didn't do it. Just like I didn't do birthday cards. I asked them not to do cards for me but they took no notice, that was their fault not mine.
I got on ok with my workmates but there's only one of them I ever want too see now I've left.

There's a couple of blokes at my depot who ride motorbikes, but no other custom fans. The majority of them seem to be into either football, golf or fishing, none of which interest me in the slightest. So I just don't have any reason to socialise with any of them in "civvy street". The male/female ratio's probably something like 80/20, with several of the ladies married to other Posties, so little chance of a romantic liason Rod, though I did have an affair with a girl there for a few months once. I also lived for 10 years with a woman I met when she was one of my postal customers. Anyone met their other halves at work?
