The hee-uge girder forks were one-offs, specially built for Taz by Mr FLC. They're mated to the rear wheel from a V Max, with the shaft drive hub covered by a chrome "hubcap" from a Harley. The wheel will be powder-coated grey to match the rears, as will the fork legs. Not sure about the chrome cap, maybe black, maybe grey, but chrome's too blingy for the look we're after.
No jigs used for the frame but lots & lots & lots of measuring & extensive use of a spirit level & plumbline. I'd normally tack the headstock in without the forks, but it took me an hour & a half to strip the girders down to slip the headstock tube onto the steering stem & I'm not pulling it all apart again now! I know the forks aren't level in those last shots -we were just trying them in place. They sit at bang on 45 degrees. The kick-ups to the axle clamps were bent seperately & joined to the bottom rails with 4 inch slugs, (sections of tube sliced down their length & squeezed in the vice until they fitted snugly inside the frame tube). We then drilled through the frame & plug-welded the slugs in place, leaving a gap in the joint to run a bead of weld around. The shed floor's a bit wibbly wobbly so we borrowed some sheets of chipboard from Taz's work & shimmed them up until we had a level surface to work on. The trike's wheelbase fits snugly on a standard 8 by 4 foot sheet.
Taz has cut & bent all the tubing herself & will no doubt be trying her hand at MIG welding at some stage.
It doesn't get any more simple & basic than this.
