Manky and I have been busy in the shed today.
Mr Mank cut the Headstock off an old XS750 Yam' frame that was kicking about in the shed. Then he cleaned it up with a large handfile, ready for welding to my trike frame when we start it. The hole was the mounting for a steering lock, which we won't be re-using, so he'll fill it with weld.

While he was busy with that, I cleaned up the rocker cover with a Dremill drill & sandpaper.

I've also stripped the original paint off the front & back engine mounting plates.
While Manky was enjoying his weekend lie-in, I hacksawed off the captive nuts from the front engine mounts. Manky uses 12mm bolts instead that screw into captive nuts on the frame.

On the rear mounting plate, I've trimmed off the 2 lugs that weren't needed. They were guides for the clutch cable.
The rocker cover & engine plates are now ready for a coat of gloss black powder-coat when Manky takes the last of his parts in to be done.

nice productive day then at the Tazzy Mank love nest Smiley... only thing im wondering on is why work so hard on the rocker cover if yer aving it powder coated as i thought they would blast it before painting? or does that cost extra again ? and the reason yer doing the polishing?

Nothing's been polished VB, just very well cleaned  Cheesy
A little drop of Nitromors paint stripper to get into the awkward corners & the rest was done with sand paper & Dremill. Yup, it's all being powder-coated, but the finish is only as good as the preparation underneath, plus the industrial coater I use is a bit heavy handed with the shot-blasting. I've had a sump done in the past that looked great, but turned out he'd blown a hole through one corner & when I fitted it, the oil came pouring back out. If we clean bits first, it just saves time, work & the chance of anything being damaged.
Plus it gave Taz a chance to play with her Dremill!
The bits are now safely stored in a dry box in the house so they don't surface-rust before coating.

18 quid from "Duksville Speed Shop".
www.duksville.com
01613-436015 or 07967-077160.
Part number NPL1.
Duksville sell all sorts of Stateside hotrod parts.

We thought you could use a similar idea to house rear running lights & indicators.
