Way past my bedtime -I'm working the night shift tonight, starting at midnight, then straight up to Oxford for the NABD do tomorrow lunchtime, so can't hang around for long.
Just thought I'd show you my new toy. Decided I was getting a little throttle happy on the Speed Triple -only a matter of time before I lost my licence or my life, plus I couldn't afford the servicing & stuff. So I sold it to a friend of my brothers a couple of days ago for £2,900. The very next day a mate offered me this for £1500. Had planned something smaller. like a Fazer, as it's just my secondary transport once the trike's back on the road, but this was just too good & too cheap to turn down!
It's a ten year old CB1000 Honda. Lovely condition, a few stone chips but pretty good for it's year. Rides beautifully. Much more restrained & refined than the manic Triumph. Vey comfy too. The previous owner has bought a CB1300 so this was just sat in his garage gathering dust. He put a fresh MOT on it this morning & a brand new battery, & I picked it up this afternoon. Already sorted the insurance & bought a new tax disc on my way home so I can go out to play this weekend! I do miss Kermit the Thug but can see me putting some serious mileage on this one.
Oh yeah, remember me mentioning a cut down ratty XJ12 for 450 quid? Had a second look today. It's not an XJ. It's an XS1100. Always fancied one of them but could never afford one. Had several XS 650s, 750s & an 850, but never the 11. Got a legit logbook but just leant against the wall in the corner of Valley Gas Speed Shop in Newbury, completely ignored. Told the owner if he can get it running I'll be back next week with 400 quid. Why? I dunno. It's ugly but could be fun, (I've known a few girls like that). Will put it in the back of the garage & tinker with it from time to time.  Wink

Thanks.  Sad

Atr least I can tell an XS from an XJ.

That's very Freudian Wizzy! I mentioned no names.
No, Flappy Boy, you can't have a go. Haven't forgiven you for letting me burn my arm welding your car yet.
It was err...dark in that workshop!

Previous owner reckons it's good for around 120, whereas Kermy was listed as 148mph in the manual & definitely did 130+  -though obviously I've never done that, officer. Different kind of bike though, which is what I was looking for. Much more a tourer than a racer. The acceleration is far more...I was going to say sluggish. Sedate maybe, than Kermy, which was in the guided missile class. I needed to slow down though before I killed myself. Honda's much more sensible & comfy! Am I getting old?

Nah, just taking steps to make sure that you do!

Even the worst biking nutter I ever met sold his @Busa cos he said if he kept trying to find out how fast it would go he'd kill himself!

As an aside, saw him down Poole Quay the other night, he's been thru several bikes since the busa, but now he's got a CCM and lovin' it!  Takes all sorts........

Yeah, I've never been a speed demon -never had a bike that could break the ton without vaporising itself before, but it was nice to see what it felt like for a little while. I'll miss Kermy. Made me smile every time we hit the open road & I watched that needle sweep up past the hundred mark & beyond, but he was a bad influence on me! I can see the attraction for pushing the limits, riding ever faster & harder, but at some point I'd reach MY limit & things would get VERY painful, VERY quickly! Time to throttle back a bit.
