Title: "Syko" drag trike.
Post by: Manky Monkey on May 23, 2008, 09:33:03 PM
Brock sent me a piccie of "Syko" from his latest test & tune outing at Avon Park drag strip last weekend. We mentioned this last year sometime, but I've yet to see it in the flesh myself. Curious to know how it performs compared to normal 2 wheelers or whether it can race in the same class.

some more shots here : http://peterdonaldson5305.fotopic.net/c1514592_133.html

This was the run I watched, it seemed to lift the nearside front and then make a dive for the left barrier under corrective steering, pretty wild and all over by the sixty foot mark. I chatted to the guy riding it while they were in the pairing lanes, it runs a 5-odd litre Rover based motor transverse in the chassis with the drive taken off of the "front" end of the crank, they built their own clutch set up (as you do) and are still trying to get to grips with it all. I thought that he had said that they are aiming to play in Comp Bike but I can see one thing that might stop that, although to be fair I haven't checked the rules to see if they actually define "bike". Seemed like nice guys just playing for the fun of it.

Yeah, I was assuming Rover V8, so wondered if they'd be paired with stuff like Lotus 7s & Caterhams. Interesting.
