Alright chaps, let's get this organised. So we have a potential 160 quid so far. How much do we need to raise JJ? Those who've sent me their pennies already, thank you very much. If you need payment details drop me a quick PM & I'll send 'em. Any thoughts on when you'd like to go, (obviously we need to pay the money & set up the adoption before we can visit).

As I understand it from their adoption page, £250, unless we can all dress up as Scouts and Guides and pretend to be 16 years old or under. Now I know I could pull that off plus I still have my uniform but for some of you ... Let's see what we get and go from there. JJ

You certainly do. The has more than doubled last couple of years. It was £120 in 2014. I think they may find, that is too much of a hike and a lot of small groups will drop out of this scheme. I know this isn't quite the point but unless 24 or more folk visit, it's cheaper to pay the std group entrance price.

I think that is the point tbh. I know they say how important the adoption money is blah blah - but if other people do that calculation it may well piss them off - or at the very least, decide to just pay the entrance fee. I feel they are taking advantage of peoples' goodwill. But there, I AM just a grumpy Old Woman.

The Monkey World site says they haven't changed their adoption prices for about 8 to 9 years. I think the minimum was £120 when the then current members started the adoption in 2006 and you raised £170. The number of Monkey World monkeys has pretty much doubled since then. It does seem a big ask and in the more recent past when fewer have turned up and have been a mixture of children, discounted adults (seniors and disabled) and full paying adults, we probably haven't cost more than £120. I suppose the point of adoption is to have that money up front so it can either be invested and they can make more out of it or they can buy many of their requirements in bulk. Andy, I thought it had been £200 for a long time with you topping up the difference on the quiet. I reckon we will meet the £200 mark. Perhaps I could write to Monkey World and explain we would like to continue supporting them via Micky but cannot meet the new sum because we are a fairly small and geographically diverse group. I can also remind them that there is a paver which wasn't cheap, in our name. See what they say. JJ

Many years ago I had a discussion with my then girlfriend about the start of mankind. Her opinion was that we evolved from apes, but she didn't like my answer that we wasn't talking about her side of the family..... Anyway my son told me he would also donate a tenner because of his mothers "family tree"....
