Worked on many sites in this country and never seen anything like that. They do do say that necessity is the mother of invention! ( thank god for auto spellcheck there) the digger driver probably does this every day.

I drove diggers for the last ten years of my working life,and never saw anybody do that,mind you the ones I drove were up to 30 ton and needed a low loader,that blokes mental.

not done it exactly like that but have done simaler  also loaded a bobcat with out ramps one day when i forgot to take them with me and i wasn,t going back 100miles to get them  Roll Eyes

                 lift the broken track in the air with the digger arm,turn the good track and slew round at the same time,bit of a pain but you could go anywhere.
