Didn't even look at the trike today, I sat in the garden in the sunshine!

Chevy Rick has mended the wiring on my mobility scooter so I will be there on that. I will put my MMM hoodie on the back of it, so if you see me or Rick then please say hello. We should have Alfie with us too.  I missed meeting you and your wife last time ON so perhaps we will meet up this time.

I did actually check the autojumble stalls for you Mike, but didn't spot any Rochesters. If you'd wanted a propeller though, or a parachute, or a set of rudder pedals from a German bomber, no problem.
A very hot n dusty day down at Popham airfield, between Basingstoke & Andover in Hampshire today. The place was heaving with all manner of vintage cars & motorcycles -& an equally impressive number of vintage aircraft, literally dropping in for the event.
I spent the morning wandering about with my mate Bob, (Baychimp here on the forum), but bumped into Jay Jay, Chevy Rick, Old Newbie & Janie_Postie, as well as the usual cast of familiar local faces. I was unusually organised this morning, so reached the airfield by 9.0.clock, meaning I got to witness the long line of classics arriving at the gate & streaming across the field to claim their spot for the day. Picnic baskets & parasols seemed to be the most popular accessory with many owners choosing to set up camp next to their vehicles to sit & watch the World go by -and why not. A very pleasant way to spend a Bank Holiday Monday.
Beautiful Hudson Hornet is a recent acquisition by a friend of Janie's.

Kalvin's gorgeous diesel cab-over-engine Chevy truck, sporting it's new box back. It's normally a flat bed & carries one of Kalvin's collection of bikes strapped to the back. He's spent the last few weeks reworking this American style horsebox though. Not a 5 minute job. It originally had an external framework, with the ribbed aluminium panels on the inside, so he's dismantled it & reversed the panels. Reminds me of 40s/50s municipal trash trucks, but I like it. He's thinking of fitting thin aluminium windows from a boat along the sides with bars or mesh to create a "Paddy Wagon", vintage prison truck. Very cool.

The sheer numbers & variety of vehicles at these events is amazing. Where do all these cars go for the rest of the year? It's very easy to wander past rows & rows of them without really looking closely at any, but every one is someone's pride & joy.

I followed this beautiful Jaguar tourer all the way from Basingstoke. We turned into the airfield entrance, he went right to the exhibitors entrance, I went left to the public carpark. Saw it later with the front end stoved in -what the hell happened?
Apparently he ran into the back of a VW Golf in the queue.

Nice to see the Blue Peter lorry, as my Grandfather drove this for years. They were a local company based in Worting.

Si, of Attitude, turns out a huge number of top dollar, top quality bikes & a lot of his customers ride together at weekends to local events. You can spot 'em by their purple metalflake Biltwell helmets.
