Title: Healey Tickfords
Post by: BikerGran on March 10, 2006, 12:51:08 AM
Was hunting for some phots of a car that my dad owned a long time ago but I've only got a very poor b&w one, so I borrowed these (with permission) from the website of the Healey Owners Association.  http://www.healeyowners.co.uk/

I think they're beautiful - the one my dad owned had a fawn body with cherry red wings.  It was his daily drive and we went everywhere in it - even to scrambling (Moto-X) meets and Hill Climbs - where we often got stuck in the gateway to the car park (aka field) as the car had 4.5in ground clearance.

Wonderful.  Proper dash board, proper steering wheel, they knew how to make a car in those days.  God, I'm showing my age again :-[

True, but there were disadvantages - these were handbuilt jobs on a wooden frame - dad had to part with his cos the door post began to rot and he just couldn't afford to have the work done!

And I remember there was a weather leak which caused my mum to travel many miles holding the flask cup under the dashboard!

Was a lovely car tho and fast for the time - it would cruise very happily at 70, we always said it didn't climb hills it just went up them!
