It was and today was even nicer  Grin would have been super if I wasn't sitting on a seesaw.
Still got out at lunch and got some off cuts of angle and plate so I can start making the bits after work and hopefully go back on Saturday and finish the job.

Hope you hit the right formula Craig, could take a fair bit of trial and error mate.Ive got scissor type standard seat springs on both my seats, spent several hours messing with them. Also have a gel pad on the rear seat.
Dont knock the see saw effect...plenty of excersise for clenching!Swmbo will be amazed at your prowess  !!!!

ha ha ha.
well got round to do the welding for the seat. Grin took abit of fiddling around and trials with blocks of wood and shock positions but got there in the end.

cut and ground out the previous work. i had cut and drill all the bits up before going there. welded the tabs to the new seat back. i drilled holes above and below the mounting holes i had planned to use just incase i wanted to move it up or down in the future.

then welded tabs to base plate and fixed that in position

mounted the shocks and rode home. next gave it a lick of paint where i could and now looks like this.

i am a happy bunny. Grin the seat is now a lot lower and closer to where it was originally. with the two shocks on it doesnt wobble side to side and i feel safe going round corners. haven't been able to go to far yet, been busy at work, but plan a ride out on my lunch today. but i can already tell the difference on the short run to work. three bumps that used to rattle my spine are now just lumps in the road  Smiley when i do hit bigger bumps the seat stays under my bum rather than me flying in to the air and coming back down on to it.
