Stumpy's posted too. I went to the local newsagents for some stamps this afternoon -well, someone's gotta pay for them to post these out: Asked the young girl behind the counter if they sold stamps. Yes. Can I have half a dozen First Class then please. We've only got 6. ...alright. I'll have 6 then please. My Dad used to say you know you're getting old when you start feeling like you don't fit in this World any more. I'm beginning to understand what he meant. Sigh............... Have heard the old saying of going "nineteen to the dozen" referred to as going "nine to the dozen", yet they're using it to still mean going very quickly. You give 'em an inch, and they take 1.609344km..........

Just realised what a busy weekend it is. Also coincides with Beaulieu Spring Autojumble. I do like this show though. At least Beaulieu is also on the Saturday.

My Dad used to say you know you're getting old when you start feeling like you don't fit in this World any more. I'm beginning to understand what he meant. It is worrying. I think obtaining a good general knowledge is a dying art (like mental arithmetic) but what can you expect when society is being dumbed down and so many children are being brought up by parents who are not far from being children themselves. Each generation just seems to get worse, along with their expectations. We already have many families who have two or three generations totally reliant on benefits and have no intention of working. It is ironic that those who have the most time to help their children with their education seem to be the ones who care the least about it. For many of those that do work, their time is limited and I applaud those that find the time to ensure their child's education is supported at home. As for your stamps, what has happened to your freebies, don't you get them anymore?

my son has always referred to us as the "old folk" people are shocked when they first meet us. My wife was 16 and I was 18 when we "got together". Yes, I was a child bride

Right, I think I've posted out 25 vehicle passes. I asked the organisers for more, so we've got another 10. 3 of those might go to Chris & his Dad for Chris's Chevy pick-up & dragster project & his Dad's Suzuki sidecar racer, (he's been with us for the last couple of years). Also got to save one for Simon & his Suzuki Katana, so there's another 6 places available if anyone wants to come along.
We've been doing this show for something like 10 years now & I've never yet been able to ride or drive my vehicles there. Always costs me a fortune to rent a van or whatever. Hopefully a mate with a recovery truck can take my Pop there this year, but I can't get my bike there without renting a van as well. Before I do, is anyone going who'd have space in a van or on a trailer to pick mine up en route? Yes, I could almost push it there, but there's a serious hill between my garage & the show field!
