Its still October 2016, but here's a 2017 diary date for you - Sunday 29th Jan (so I've reliably informed) is the pre 1965 Talmag motorcycle trial at Hungary Hill Aldershot. Have a look at previous threads to get an idea of what its all about. http://www.mankymonkeymotors.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=14342.0http://www.mankymonkeymotors.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=15150.0

Some snaps from today's event.
First riders set off for Section 1 (the course has 15 sections and is ridden twice) at 9.31 following tech inspection / scruitineering, and then progress around the other sections.
In a motorcycle trial, the aim is to ride each laid-out section without stopping, putting a foot down, missing a 'gate' or falling off - various points are given for various infringements, so the idea is to have as few a points as possible. Its not against the clock, and only rider rider tackles a section at a time.
There are two routes avaialbe, and the route is generally specific to class of machine (twin-shock or rigid rear end as an example)
The 2017 entry was just below 150 machines
The large majority of bikes are single cylinder British, but a few twins, and some non-British iron can also be seen.
Here's a particularly unusual machine - a 1929 600cc Indian Scout with hand gear-change (although it was here in 2015, its the first V-twin I've seen at the Talmag in 30 odd years!)

Couple of mates having a chin wag before the start.
Bike in foreground is a 1954 AJS model 16 (350cc), and bike 39 is a 1951 Norton 500T

Having walked the next section to try and find the best way of tackling it (and watching some of the other riders have a go too), its back on the bikes and queue up ready for the off

Great photos Tony. I seriously considered going this year, but woke up to pouring rain here & decided a lie-in was a much better option!

Thanks for sharing. I once did pre65 scrambles, not motoX!, unfortunately a few then a few more made the sport so expensive to compete with I lost interest. Trials is very under rated in my book, used to watch them up Dartmoor before the PC brigade spoiled that.
