Mike has a problem with tyres for his Jag. Ordinary tyre companies don't make the right tyres for his model any more, he can get from a vintage tyre supplier but nearly £400 each! So he bought some used ones but our local tyre fitter said the one Mike showed him had tiny cracks in and might fail the MOT, so he's looking a fitting a different size tyre to his wheels.
He asked the Jag Heritage people this question, they couldn't answer and forwarded it to Jaguar themselves, but they say they can't answer as it would be a non-standard fitting, so I thought, someone on MMM is bound to know! This was what he asked.....
Tyre change.I have a 1993 xj40 and wish to fit tyre size 225 60 15w as original spec tyres no longer available. I know this will make a small percentage loss on speedo but wish to know if there will be any damage to gearbox.
It's an auto box of course.
The original size is 225 65 15w.
