Well, looks like I've now begun the joys/torture of building my own trike. So far I have a Harley Sportster tank which I bought from fleabay for £52, 15" BMW wheels from TerrorTubby for £40 and also from TT the engine, gearbox, radiator, rear axle and a few bruises thrown in for £200.
I will be doing most of the work myself and it will be done on a very tight budget. So far £292 not including fuel.
Thanks for putting up with Manky and myself TT and thanks for the sarnies and cake.
The weather held off for our dismantling session. There was only 1 hard downpour. We started with a complete running car and removed all the bits I need for my project. Manky undid all the bolts from above and guess who got to grovel around in the mud -yup, yours truly. With a lot of straining and not much body work cut up we actually lifted the car over the engine, then turned it round and tipped it on it's side to grind off the brackets holding the rear axle on.
The car was a 15 year old Reliant Rialto, (the later pre-engaged starter model), with under 45,000 miles on the clock.
I don't know what was covered in the most oil and dirt by the end of the day, me or the engine
(think it was me)
Manky you'd best hide your spares
