Still got the tank to finish that goes with that set, plus all needs to be compounded and polished...That Candy red sure is one sweet colour to paint though especially over the silver marble......If anyone else wants a Trike set painted up in any colour etc give me a shout as I could use some cash to spend on the wifes project lol....Voodoo....

How much do you charge for a set like that? Other halfs trike will need doing at some time and she just saw that and wet herself pmsl

For something similar in a Candy of your choice with the Marble will work out around £900, for that you get a Pearl Basecoat (5 Coats), Marble coat, a Candy Topcoat (5 Coats) and a Clearcoat lacquer (15 Coats) and then I compound and polish them all to finish (3 days work on polishing):
2 Rear Mudguards 1 Front Mudguard and the Petrol tank.
Turnaround time to paint that set is 2-3 weeks.
For the same set in a single colour (inc some pearls) would come out at £600...
These prices are based on the items to be painted in good condition and not needing repair work first..
I ONLY USE House of kolor Paints as they have the best Candy paints....Voodoo....

Well looks like I have been getting some bad prices for paintwork, I have only priced mine up going on what I have been quoted by other firms to do the same jobs with the same paint...Ive taken the prices they have quoted me then knocked £500 off to come up with my price for stuff..
Tell you what if someone wants something done then go see someone else as I cant be asked with it anymore.Voodoo..

I will get your bits done as quick as I can Toad and give you a shout

You have not been overcharging. £900 quid for that kinda finish is a good price. Most people don't have the money so baulk at paying that. I've suffered this problem for years.

How many hours (minimum) if you had enough space etc to do that kinda work day in day out would it take to do that?
My mate had a tank painted black  with some dark blue flames done and it cost him £400....   ;) stick at it

Most of our classic frame customers  are middle aged onwards and can see the work and time that goes into making a frame. However there are others that see just an overpriced bit of twisted tube. and say so. often adding i could do that for a lot less. My reply is either "well best of luck, bye bye " or the following.

t45 tubing 1 1/8" 17g for example £12.00 per metre (and thats because we buy in quanity)
protool bender £350.00
formers £275.00 each
acetylene
oxygen
flux
bronze welding rods,
a jig
saw ( t45 is very hard)
years of experience to enable you to weld  exotic metals using gas.
to make very close tolerance mitres
electricity and the list goes on.

but mainly my reply to "i can get that for x amount somewhere else or other" is (there you go then , go get it) :)

Draken, over many years I have rarely found the buying public appreciative of the efforts of the skilled artisan, nor readily appreciative of the cost of his work. However, the same "Joe Public" has no problems with the over inflated bills of the Legal fraternity and their ilk. My father, one of the most skilled Mechanical men I have ever had the privilege of watching has a simple adage when it came to his bill, that was," £1.00 for use of hammer, a further £2.00 for knowing where to hit it!"....Morrag
