Bright sunshine, although a little chilly, meant a huge turn out for this 10th anniversary meet.
The New Malden Krispy Kreme donut shop's on the corner of a roundabout, literally underneath the A3 on the outskirts of London. Originally the rod meet was in the carpark, but as it's grown the cars have spilled out into the street, slowly spreading further & further from the original venue. It's a busy road & I'm sure the Police will eventually step in & tone it down, but for now it's great to see custom cars cruising up & down -so much more interesting than a static display.

Occasional forum visitor Steve Pyle, ("65 Nova"), in his, err, '65 Chevy Nova.

A Charger -awww, I used to have one of those.  :( Outside an empty factory unit down the road from the donut shop. I've never seen rods parked this far away before but I thought it made an interesting backdrop.

The black roadster belongs to Ian Whittaker,  one of the guys Loony & I went to Holland with. He raced the car on the sand at Pendine beach last year.

Tony Mathews, looking rather splendid in his Leopard fur drape jacket. He stepped out of his 70s Caddy looking like a Vegas crooner.

Martin Grossmith's roadster at the lights. Almost every vehicle in this snap is a custom -& the busses on the A3 flyover are vintage RouteMasters on their way to the bus show at Brooklands.

Doesn't show as much in a photograph, but one side of the street was in shadow & the other in bright sunlight. Cruisin' on the sunny side of the street.

They just opened a krispy kreme  in Plymouth, heres hoping we can get something like this going on. We had a street meet at KFC, got ruined by a lad losing his Fiesta into the crowd, 19 injured !! so thats gone.

There's a car meet at the Manchester branch too, but mainly the hothatch crowd apparently, not customs.
As I said, a busy street in a London borough. There are always burnouts as people leave & there's been a few close shaves. Eventually there'll be an accident here too. Never really understood the point of burnouts myself as most of the cars there can do it.

As it's a Sunday morning, most of the local businesses are closed, providing handy extra parking -at least I assume these were there for the meet & not available for rental.

Did amuse me that these 3 Minis had managed to slot themselves in perfectly between the bollards on the pavement outside the timber merchants. How long did they hold the traffic up while they manoeuvred them? Maybe they'd had a sneaky measure up beforehand.  :)

The meet's organised by Dave Williams. That's his blue Buick in the foreground. He was presented with a framed hand drawn cartoon of his car to mark the anniversary.

Turning up early to "power park" in the shop carpark's fine, but it does mean you're stuck there till everyone goes home.

I've never seen the Drive Thru window open, but I guess they must use it. There was a DJ on hand for the event & an exhibition of 50s jive dancing inside.

The "Poison Ivy" pick-up comes from Andover in Hampshire. I followed it home down the A3.

Another damn Charger. This one belongs to Derek, secretary of the Mopar Muscle Association. It was badly vandalised a couple of years ago, but now back to it's former glory.

Plenty of bikes too. The pavement along the front of the shop's become their regular parking spot.

Not actually sure what this is. A new car to me. It's not a Ford is it? Track nose & heavy roof chop give it the Bonneville salt flats racer look.
Same colour as my Pop -green seems to be "in" at the moment.

This model A coupe used to belong to forum member Postie Dave.
The Cadillac engine he had so much trouble with's been replaced by a good ol' Rover V8, disguised with tin rocker covers with the cases painted in Caddy blue.

Love the stance of this model A coupe & it's clever use of 50s sci fi accessories, like the flying saucer radiator cap.

Retro T bucket was supercharged Rover powered & had a Q plate, so has presumably been through the BIVA registration test?

Local guy Simon Pollock, of Nefarious Pinstriping, another of our fellow Holland trippers, was plying his trade among the cars -much to the curiosity of pedestrians, who probably don't see a guy pinstriping cars in the street every day.

Pint sized Mini had no trouble parking.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that this '55/'56 Chevy station wagon isn't quite what it seems -did they make a wagon version of this? The '57s were Nomads weren't they?

Andy they did make a station wagon in 55 and 56. If my memory is correct the Nomad is a different body shape.But if i'm wrong somebody will put us right I'm sure.

I'm sure there was something unusual about that one, but can't remember what.
