Merica. Made an ace cafe - bigger, louder, brasher etc You can get unlimited fish and chips though..... Title: Re: The ace, but not as we know it. Post by: Manky Monkey on October 27, 2017, 08:10:34 AM No photo. An American Ace Cafe? Why does that make me cringe.

Post by: Manky Monkey on October 27, 2017, 02:38:45 PM :) I spoke to people in New York a couple of months ago who genuinely thought all Brits either spoke Cockney rhyming slang or with comedy upper class accents. I can just imagine what a Disneyfied version of a British biker cafe would be like.
Mind you, there are loads of traditional 50s style "Greasers" in Japan. Some countries adopt others' cultures well -others don't. Title: Re: The ace, but not as we know it. Post by: stinkey on October 27, 2017, 04:26:51 PM Ever watched a yank, listening to a scouse/ brummy/Glaswegian :D :D

Post by: JayJay on October 27, 2017, 07:54:00 PM Ever watched a yank, listening to a scouse/ brummy/Glaswegian :D :D My accent is middling Brummie/Wolverhampton but I had no problems being understood when I lived in the US in my younger days. It's funny but out of all my family I'm the only one with an accent. I can't hear it myself but I was at my Mum's the other day and she played a message from me on her answering phone and I sounded really broad. Mind you, don't most people dislike hearing their taped voice? :o Title: Re: The ace, but not as we know it. Post by: Archie on October 27, 2017, 08:00:46 PM Hate it jay jay
Best one so far was getting fuel on the way to Gainesville and a young lady asked if I was from Germany Title: Re: The ace, but not as we know it. Post by: Baychimp on October 27, 2017, 09:32:38 PM An American Ace Cafe, with everbody sounding like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. Imagine that. No I can't either. :o :D

I hope you assured her otherwise. :) P.S. I'm in no way implying that the current German populace goes around doing that. Well, not most of them anyway. :-\ Title: Re: The ace, but not as we know it.
