Marked out where front and rear pipes should be drilled two holes and then cut the slot out between them and hoped we (me) had not ballsed it up D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank

Looks damn cool too! Will you need some sort of heat shield around those? Does fibreglass melt?

With the exhaust cut outs we could decide how far down the engine cover would come. Once again measured many times before cutting. D72 British Bellytank And the spine decided where it finished so that was the size of the cover. Making this up as we go, planning will only get you so far. Also made hole in the top right above the carb. D72 British Bellytank

Thank you, it gets better. We are planning some sort of heat shield round the opening as it may well burn.

Tried to shrink this section a little on the side that attaches to the body, didn't work out too well and the flange moved when tightening up. Not a major flaw but it bugs me for some strange reason more than some other problems. D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank D72 British Bellytank

Have to agree, really interesting thread, great engineering and aesthetics to match, well done sir One of the pics of the exhausts exiting the bodywork reminded me of the Auto Union Type D
