Flap. Monkey, Flap, Monkey. Almost indistinguishable -as we discovered when we set him on fire.

Cool! I'm pretty sure he & Flappitty aren't one & the same though. Flap has trouble mastering his shoelaces, let alone half a dozen guitar strings.

Bugger, they were there when we left home! A sensible question actually mate -you sure you're on the right forum?! The MSVA & Construction & Use regulations both state the tyres must have "adequate" guards to prevent spray etc. I've heard all sorts of variations over the years as to what actually constitutes "adequate", but never seen any hard & fast written measurements, so it's down to the interpretation of the tester really. BUT, they're not required for the MOT. They're not on their list of items to check. When Flap & I took the Flapster for it's MOT the guy actually went off & phoned the Ministry for guidance -they told him they weren't required so he couldn't fail him for not having them. So you need them to register your trike, don't need them to MOT it, but if the Police pulled you over they could nick you for not having them! I'm told it's 3 points on your licence for each missing guard now so it's up to you whether you risk it or not. In practice I reckon you're unlikely to get stopped. About half the trikes I see at shows don't run guards & I've not heard of them being done for it. The trike regs say there should be a side marker light each side of the vehicle to show it's width at night. They have to be within 400mm of the outside edge of the trike & Flap's rear lights are right on the 400mill mark, but not visible from the front so he should have a little white light either side pointing forward. Mudguards make easy places to mount marker lights.

Thanks MM, yep I am on the right site..... get told lots of useful info here. I was'nt sure thats why I asked, so maybe I'll risk it after the MSVA and take them off. Though methinks that the mini scoot will need all the help that it can get in the looks department!!!! I like it though and more importantly so does my wife!!!!! Thanks again MM appreciate it. Keith

The Flapster looked good without guards so we didn't make any, now we can't be bothered. Might make some one day in the distant future If I get stopped and they mention points and fines I'll just tell them my names Andy (manky monkey) Field
