Title: Pig in a puddle.
Post by: Manky Monkey on October 06, 2005, 02:49:29 PM
My brother Steve's been trying to reduce this piccie to post it here for ages now, so being the computer genius that I am, I thought I'd do it for him. I think this is a cracking shot & should be heading the piece on the car in the Motors section -but I'm just the site owner. My opinion means nothing around here!
This is Steve's 600bhp small block Chevy competition altered nostalgia drag car, "the Black Pig".

Nice shot - but two steps to the right and the reflection would have been kept and still tapering to the vanishing point on the right, but the lorry cab would have been out of shot.

Thought the same. Could crop it tight to the front wheel but might look odd. Taken in the pit lane at Santa Pod -two steps to the right was probably some dirty great dragster rumbling past!

Gotta suffer to get the good pic.

Imagining Manky with tyre treads across him...

Where's Yodie's magic photoshop when you need him. Brother's shot, not mine so Steve with treads across him. Would racing slicks leave a print?

That's weird -looks like an Airfix model. Have you highlighted the car in some way? Can you crop the left side as well?

I merely blured the background

I can crop the other side as well but it will be square and not landscape photo-shaped

Don't even suggest it, Yodie - how long did he take him to decide a design in the first place!! ::) No, Manky with thread marks will do me just fine!  ;) ;D

Really? Yodie's been muttering about fitting nitrous to his new trike next year. Not sure about Steve's car. I think he planned to run on alcohol at some point but he's now looking to build himself a complete new car instead. He's racing at Avon Park again this weekend, so I might go along & cheer him on. I keep asking him to write us a race diary for the site. The season finishes soon though so hopefully he'll pen us a review of the year -hint, hint.

Steve races with The Wild Bunch. Check the links page for their site & also a link to Eurodragster who cover most of the British meets.

thats a great car with the reflection  one of my favourites up there with  als gasser (pop)  gonzo (topolino)  the devil (plymouth 5window) and jeans T  the latter has inspired me to build my own T got the body taking a mould off it first but will send pics when i start as still collecting bits at the moment

You building to race Ron or for road use?
I picked up an unused Pop Brown's  '27 T body & rad shell, plus a brand new 5 core rad & basic box section chassis at the Nostalgia Nats last year for 275 quid. It's sat in Steve's workshop, along with a 4 litre staright 6 Jag motor & box, waiting for me to come up with the parts to get it rolling. Soon Steve I promise!

Nice picture, agree with the comment on side steps, but not always possible, also the tighter crop does'nt work for me, loses impact.

You're right. Would've perhaps been better to blur or fade the background, or layer it with a full colour foreground & black & white background like Yoda's since done with the Merchandise page.

I have been running on alcohol for years. Tried nitrous once but the nurse took it away ;D
