Title: Sea fog
Post by: Manky Monkey on May 31, 2018, 06:45:37 PM
I nipped down to Christchurch in Dorset after work yesterday afternoon to deliver something to Stinkey. Errand done, I then bumbled across town to Avon Beach, near Mudeford. I don't know why, but I just like this little stretch of pebbly sand. It's nothing special, just a half mile length of sea front, overlooking the Isle of Wight & lots of beach huts, but I love the atmosphere there, especially in the early evening. There was an open air yoga class going on further down the beach, but only a few hardy souls sitting on the sand or walking dogs where I was.
I've never seen fog there before. Quite eerie, not being able to see what was lurking out there as I wandered along the shore. Almost silent too.
I went to see the sea, but missed it in the mist.

One very hardy soul emerged out of the fog. Not quite the sea monster I was expecting.

Heavy mist here now. From the sea I think but I haven't ventured out to find out.

I was down at Mudeford on Tuesday. Absolutely packed. Loads crabbing and catching some big ones. Two of my grandchildren were with me but unfortunately their crabbing gear is in the garage (just like everything else). They like to crab at either Mudeford or Lymington quay.

That bloke was hardy, swimming without a dry suit. The water is still quite cold. What starting as paddling for my grandchildren at Milford, on Wednesday, turned into soaking wet shorts not long after. Fortunately they both had those water shoes on so no ruined trainers.  :)

I haven't swum in the sea since I was a kid. Too many things living in it!

I go swimming in the sea (Atlantic) in Portugal but I have to go in with my crutches. Strange I know but I would fall over if I didn't. Downside is the sand gets in them and if I try to rinse them not all of it comes out and then I can't shorten them down.

Before anyone asks about backstroke or front crawl, I scull, so no crutches actually whizz around in the air!  :P
