Worked on many sites in this country and never seen anything like that. They do do say that necessity is the mother of invention! ( thank god for auto spellcheck there) the digger driver probably does this every day.

I drove diggers for the last ten years of my working life,and never saw anybody do that,mind you the ones I drove were up to 30 ton and needed a low loader,that blokes mental.

not done it exactly like that but have done simaler also loaded a bobcat with out ramps one day when i forgot to take them with me and i wasn,t going back 100miles to get them

I had a komatsu pc 20 with only one track on for about a month,that was fun travelling around the site,till it got fixed.

Did it go round in circles?
lift the broken track in the air with the digger arm,turn the good track and slew round at the same time,bit of a pain but you could go anywhere.
