Teetering on the edge of insanity

« on: October 02, 2012, 06:40:18 PM »

After two long years of sitting on my butt wishing I'd not lost my mojo, I finally have found a bit so I thought I'd better not waste it.

Was looking for a pedal car for my daughter now that she's two and a woman at work gave me this.

As you can see it is being enjoyed before I start work on it.

I have to make a new steering wheel (already started that one)

Strip it down to bare chassis sand blast and powder coat after straightening it.

Powder coat the body.

Add bits like lights and electric motor as and when I feel like it.

So if anyone has anything that would be useful please let me know.

I always wanted a pedal car as a child - kept on hoping but I was devastated when I realised that I'd grown too big to get in one anyway!

If all the wheels touched the ground at the same time I would leave it but it does need to be straightend and some of the rust needs to be sorted.

Scarletts too small to use it properly so i will get some of the work done.

Probably Cheesy

Steering wheel was bent way out of shape and part of the steering has been bent backwards.

Nearly finished the new steering wheel had to fabricate it as it was too big to do in one cut but once covered in wood I think it will look great.

Coo, that's posh! Are you going all Boyd Coddington on us with your flashy CNC machining?!
I had a pedal car when I was about 8. The steering wheel was made of pressed tinplate & I clearly remember cutting my hands to ribbons on the razor sharp edges! Health & safety, where were you when we needed you!
