A 10 foot rope ladder hangs over the side of a boat with the bottom rung on the surface of the water. The rungs are one foot apart, and the tide goes up at the rate of 6 inches per hour. How long will it be until three rungs are covered?

Ther`s a frog, dead in the centre of a three foot diameter pond on a lily pad. The lily pad is 6" across. The frog can jump 8" at every jump but there are no other lily pads on the surface of the pond. How does the frog get to the edge of the pond?
